Kind of Education : IOU is a private institution, offering higher education by means of distance education. The university offers Associate, Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate studies in the fields of anthropology, philosophy, education, health science (emphasis oriental medicines), political science, literature, economy and management, business administration, comparative religious studies, psychology, peace studies, sociology, etc. 機構類型 : IOU 是一個私人機構,透過遠距教學提供高等教育。 這所 大學提供 準學士、學士、碩士、 博士學位 , 其 領域 包含人類學、 哲學 、 教育、保健學 ( 重點 在 東方醫學 ) 、 政治學、文學、經濟管理 學 、工商管理、比較宗教研究、心理學 、 和平研究、 和 社會學等。 Aims-principles : 目標 : To offer worldwide courses from an intercultural point of view, by means of distance learning. 透過遠距學習,提供跨文化觀點的世界 性 課程。 To stimulate higher education with the students to become a complete human being with erudition. 藉由高等教育的刺激 , 培育學生擁有飽滿學識的完整人格 。 To contribute to individual and global spiritual, social and economical development from the point of peace and justice. 以正義與和平的原則 , 為個人與全球心靈、社會與經濟的發展做出貢獻。 Legal position : non-profit institution. The IOU describes it's organizational structure as an Independent Academic Institution for Higher Education and a Network structure with overseas departments (Multiversity). Independent means free from political, governmental, economical and religious influences.
法律地位 : IOU 是非營利機構。 IOU 說明它的組織架構是獨立的高等教育學術機構,加上一個與許多海外部門組成的網絡,而所謂的獨立指的是 不受政治、政府、經濟、宗教等因素的影響。 1.4. Foundation and further development The IOU was founded in 1982 by Prof. Jan R. Hakemulder. In the field of research the university has grown into an institution carrying out research e.g. in the field of oriental medicines in general and Japanese approaches in particular. Since 1993 the International Foundation of Alternative Medicines has been established, with it Headquarters in The Netherlands and Prof. Hakemulder as its international president. 成立與未來發展 : IOU 在 1982 年由海克慕德博士 ( Prof. Jan R. International relations : The university's headquarters are in Opeinde, The Netherlands. Scientific value and research activities : In this case the Ministry of Education of The Netherlands is not the right body to give an opinion. 科學價值和研究活動 ︰ 這方面荷蘭教育部並不合適發表意見。 1.7. Quality of education : the educational quality is tested by two accrediting commission: The Accrediting Commission for Colleges and Universities (ACCU) and the World Council of Excellence in Higher Education (WCEHE). 教育品質︰由兩個認證委員會測試教育品質 ︰ 學院與大學認可委員會 (ACCU) 和 卓越高等教育世界會議 (WCEHE) 。 Target groups: No specific target group. In practice most of the students are coming from developing countries in Asia and Africa ; Middle East , Japan and North America . Teaching method : Distance education For the Bachelor's part there is a modular system. For students wishing to follow a master's course or want to do their doctorate, an individualized programme is made in accordance with their wishes and in close consult with two-three guiding professors. Students will choose the I.O.U. because of it's intercultural approach and the tuition fees (this certainly is the fact for students from developing countries). Furthermore is the individualized method very attractive. We do not know if the students from developing countries can find an alternative education in their own country. 為什麼選擇 IOU ? 因 為 IOU 跨文化的方法和學費 ( 這當然 是對於 來自開發中國家 的 學生 而言 ) 。 還有個人量身訂做學程的 方法 是 非常 具 有吸引力 的 。 我們不知道來自開發中國家的那些學生 , 在他們自己的國家 是否 能找到 一個可以替代的選擇 。 A job, combined with the study The average age of the students is 36/37 years of age. The students can study next to their job. The relation male : female is 5 to 2 . 工作 :數據呈現 學生的平均年齡歲是 36/37 。 學生能緊挨著他們的工作學習。 男性 和 女性 比例是 5 比 2 。
3.3. Level of the jobs : IOU's students can have a government job, work in embassies and private business, and can even have a political position (minister, member of parliament), etc. 工作水準 ︰ IOU 的 學生能 在 政府 單位、 大使館和私營 企 業工作,甚至能有政治 職位 ( 部長 、 國會議員 ) 等 。
3.4. Employer's role : It hardly ever happens that an employer orders an employee to study with the IOU. Generally the student chooses. 雇主的角色 : 很少雇主 會指派職員至 IOU 研習, 通常 是學生自己選擇的 。 Alumni experiences 校友經驗 4.1. Contacts with alumni : Generally speaking the IOU is not keeping into contact with alumni. After the message of the Ministry of Education of The Netherlands, stating that contact with alumni would be a topic of discussion, the IOU approached some of it's alumni with the request to describe their experiences with the university. 與校友的聯繫 ︰ 一般說來 IOU 不保持與校友的聯繫。在收到荷蘭教育部的消息之后, IOU 說與校友聯繫是一個 可以 討論的題目, 也同時 與 一些校友聯繫 , 要求 他們 描述與 IOU 的 經驗。 Kind of jobs of the alumni : The alumni are working e.g. in many jobs, including government jobs, embassies or are even ministers or member of parliament. 校友的工作的種類 ︰校友 的工作 例如政府 單位、 大使館或者是部長 、 國會議員。 Fut ure plans. 未來計畫 5.1. Strategic planning : We do not have the impression that the IOU has a strategic plan. There is no annual report. 策略性計畫 : 我們並不知道 IOU 有策略性的計畫 , 也沒有年度報告。 For the rest : The staff of the university wants to direct their attention, for now and in the future, to quality control and maintaining quality and restrict the explosive growth of the number of students. 其他 : IOU 的工作人員希望未來能發展品質控制與品質維護 , 與限制學生人數爆炸性的成長 The Hakemulder couple considers their age (dependency on two persons) a weak point of the IOU. Impression of the I.O.U. 對於 IOU 的印象 From IOU's headquarters a network is maintained with a number of institutions all over the world. Via this network about 55,000 students are educated to the level of Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree. We cannot judge the academic level of the degrees, and we do not know the academic authority of the two accrediting commissions. The university's staff wants to operate independently from government and politics and is rather inspired by ideals than commerce. 藉由 IOU 的總部 , 幾個散佈在全世界的機構共同維持著一個網絡 , 經由這個網絡 , 大約 55,000 名學生拿到大學碩士與博士學位。 我們無法判斷這些學位的學術地位 , 我們也不知道這兩個認可委員會的學術權威性。 IOU 的工作人員希望能在不受政府與政治的影響下運作 , 希望是有理想而非商業化的。 |
